THREAT TO KILL
NONN WILLIAMS, 68, of Travelodge, West Hill, Wadebridge pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to threatening to kill and assaulting and strangling a woman at Launceston on 4 May. Williams was remanded in custody and will be back in court on 13 November.
SEX OFFENCES
GREGG NORTON, 45, of Penhale Road, Penwithick has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with being a care worker, namely a Recovery Support worker, who engaged in penetrative sexual activity with a mentally disordered female who he is also alleged to have intentionally caused or incited her to engage in a sexual activity at St Austell in 2023. His case was listed for 28 August.
STEPHEN NEWCOMBE, 58, of Lock Keepers Cottage, Kingston upon Hull who was found guilty at Truro Crown Cout of sexually assaulting at least two girls, including a seven-year-old, in St Austell has been sent to prison for ten years. He was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order restricting his contact with any female under the age of 18.
JORDAN MOSS, 23, of Tre Pol, Trelowth, St Austell pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders register last September and to breaching a sexual harm prevention order by accessing Snapchat. He was made subject to a community order, fined £80 and ordered to pay a £114 surcharge and £85 costs.
ALEX DAWE, 26, of Furze Hill, Bodmin has been given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, after he was found guilty of making nine Category A indecent images of a child in 2024. He had Category A, B and C still and moving images across multiple devices. Magistrates noted he had demonstrated no remorse or insight into the seriousness of his offending and has been assessed as a high risk of harm and someone who requires ongoing management. He was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years restricting his use of the internet and has to pay £650 costs and a £187 surcharge.
STEVEN UNDERHILL, 55, of Limmicks Road, St Martin, Looe pleaded guilty to, on 1 February at an address in Goonwartha Road, Looe sharing a combination of a photograph and a film which showed, or appeared to show, a woman in an intimate state when she did not consent. He will be sentenced on 29 September and was released on conditional bail not to contact his victim.
GARY COOPER, 70, of Compass North, Liftondown has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with raping a woman at Newquay and indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 16 at Pentire Head and St Eval. His case was listed for 28 August.
ISAAC HALLIDAY, 21, of Goldfinch Close, Launceston was found not guilty at Truro Crown Court of raping a woman at Liskeard in November 2023.
ANTHONY WEBB, 81, of Treleven Road, Bude has been given a five-year custodial sentence and sent to prison for two years after being found guilty at Truro Crown Court of indecently assaulting a girl under 16 in Bude between 1985 and 1986.
DANIEL SNELL, 35, of Kingdon Way, Holsworthy pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 14 to 15. He pleaded not guilty to engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 14 or 15 while being filmed. He will be sentenced on 4 September and was released on conditional bail not to contact four females or have any unsupervised contact with a child under the age of 16 unless the parent or legal guardian knows of the investigation.
ASSAULT
CHRISTOPHER GERMAN, 42, of NFA, Newquay pleaded guilty to assaulting a man and stealing clothes worth £159.96 from Truro in Crantock Street, Newquay on 3 August. He was sent to prison for 12 weeks because it was an unprovoked attack which he committed whilst on licence. He was ordered to pay £159.96 compensation.
JASON HOLLAND, 44, of Moorland Close, Pendeen has been sent to prison for two years and six months after he changed his plea to guilty at Truro Crown Court on a charge of assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm in Newquay on 19 January.
DANIEL KEVERN, 50, of Chapel Hill, Newquay has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with assaulting and strangling a woman in Newquay on 30 July. His case was listed for 28 August and he was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim or go to the road she lives in and to abide with a 7pm to 7am daily curfew and live at his address in Chapel Hill.
JAMES START, 45, of Barncoose Terrace, Illogan Highway pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm at Summercourt on 4 June but not guilty to strangling him. He will be sentenced on 28 August and was released on conditional bail not to enter an area of Redruth or contact two people.
DARREN THOMSON, 61, of Hallaze Road, Penwithick pleaded guilty to assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm at St Austell on 4 November. He will be sentenced on 21 September.
CALLUM RUFF, 34, of Cosgarne Hall, Truro Road, St Austell was found guilty in his absence of assaulting a police officer by beating her at Eastbourne Road Cemetery in St Austell on 19 April 2025 and assaulting a police officer at Indian Queens on 28 October. He was fined £120 for each offence and ordered to pay the policewoman £100 compensation, the policeman £200 compensation, a £32 surcharge and £200 costs.
KIERAN PEARCE, 19, of Mulberry Gardens, St Austell pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man intending to do him grievous bodily harm at Par on 26 June. His trial was fixed for 3 March and he was released on conditional bail not to go to the St Blazey or Par area as outlined by a map, not to contact three people and he has to live and sleep at the Travellers Rest, Illogan, Redruth and was put on an 8pm to 5.45am curfew.
DALE CLANCY, 43, of Landreath Place, St Blazey pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman at Landreath Place occasioning her actual bodily harm and strangling her on 27 April 2025. His case was adjourned until 23 November and he was released on conditional bail not to enter Chapel Terrace, St Blazey or contact his alleged victim.
STEPHEN CLARK, 36, of Clinton Road, Solihull pleaded guilty to attempting to cause a man grievous bodily harm and not guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing a knife at Snap Fitness on Bodmin Retail Park and damaging car tyres on 1 July. He will be sentenced on 9 September and was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim or enter Cornwall save to attend court.
CARL DUFFIN, 42, of Tredanek Close, Bodmin was found guilty of assaulting a man at Bodmin on 20 December 2024. He will be sentenced on 16 October and was released on conditional bail not to contact his victim or go to the Beatrice Road driving test centre in Bodmin.
JASON SPRIGGS, 41, of Dorado Lane, Liskeard pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman at Indus Street, Liskeard on 10 June. He will stand trial on 1 February and was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim or go to Indus Street.
BENJAMIN RUNDLE, 32, of Meadow Park, St Ive Road, Pensilva pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman at Meadow Park on 24 June and assaulting her again at Carkeel on 14 June. Because it was an unprovoked attack of a serious nature, he was sent to prison for two months.
ANDREW DICKERSON, 39, of Meadow Park, St Ive Road, Pensilva pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm at Liskeard on 26 March. His case was adjourned and he was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim.
MATTHEW BAKER, 42, of Maldon Park, West Lane, Landrake has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm and assaulting a police officer at Landrake on 5 August. He was remanded in custody and his case listed for 8 September.
STEVEN BAKER, 48, of Maldon Park, West Lane, Landrake has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm at Landrake on 5 August. His case was listed for 8 September and he was released on conditional bail to live and sleep at his address in Maldon Park and not to contact his alleged victim. He pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and cannabis resin and was fined £100.
ANDREW MOSS, 27, of Leanway, St Stephens, Saltash pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman occasioning actual bodily harm and strangling her at St Austell in August 2023. He will stand trial on 20 January and was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim and a man or go to the Carey Park area of Truro.
COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR
BRETT MARSHALL, 34, of Minorca Lane, Bugle has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with engaging in coercive behaviour between 2022 and 2025. He is alleged to have been physically violent to a woman, prevented her from having friends and called her workplace demanding to know where she was. His case was listed for 28 August.
BURGLARY
DANIEL OWEN, 36, of Crosscombe Walk, Hartcliffe, Bristol and BLAKE BUYGENS, 23, of Marksbury Road, Bedminster, Bristol both pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to entering a garage at Landrake Moto Parc as a trespasser between 21 and 24 December 2022 and stealing eight bikes, bike accessories, helmets and tools. They will stand trial on 11 January.
DRUG CRIME
ROXANNA LESEAN, 21, of Grosvenor Avenue, Newquay pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing cocaine with intent to supply at Newquay on 6 July. She was remanded in custody because the court was concerned she would abscond and her case adjourned until 23 October when a French interpreter will attend court.
EMMANUEL OSINAIKE, 27, of Landreath Place, St Austell pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing cocaine with intent to supply at Falmouth on 25 June. He is also charged jointly with, RACHEL LILLEY, of possessing diamorphine with intent to supply. He will stand trial on 15 September and was released on conditional bail with a 8pm to 6am curfew and must not contact Rachel Lilley.
SONNY COUGHLAN, 34, of Butts Park, Lostwithiel has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with supplying cannabis at Lostwithiel between May and December 2024, the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on the importation of a class B drug, namely cannabis in September 2024 and possessing Acetylpsilocin, a controlled Class A drug, on 11 December 2024. His case was listed for 28 August.
STALKING
DAVID FAIRBROTHER, 85, of Trengrouse Avenue, Torpoint pleaded guilty to, between February 2023 and February 2025, stalking a woman at Trengrouse Avenue with multiple incidents causing her serious alarm or distress which had a substantial adverse effect on her life. He was made subject to a community order to do 200 hours unpaid work and a restraining order not to contact his victim or go to her house until 30 July 2031. The Bench mitigated down from a custodial sentence because of the defendant’s severe mental health, which was present during his offending, which he is now having treatment for and because of his remorse.
JONATHON OXLEY, 47, of Beresford Street, Plymouth pleaded guilty to stalking a woman in Torpoint between 19 and 25 February by making unwanted contact and turning up at her home. He will be sentenced on 29 September and was released on conditional bail not to contact his victim or go to an address in Southdown Road, Millbrook or two NHS centres in Plymouth.
HARASSMENT
SAM DUDLEY, 34, of Church Street, St Austell pleaded guilty to harassing a woman at St Austell between14 and 21 December when he attended her address unannounced and sent her several emails. He was fined £769 and made subject to a restraining order not to contact his victim or go to an address in East Hill, St Austell until 3 August 2028. He has to pay a £308 surcharge and £85 costs.
REECE COOPER, 34, of Penrice Parc, St Austell pleaded guilty to harassing a woman at St Austell between 27 July and 12 September last year. He sent her unwanted messages, threatened to damage her car, refused to return her car and caused damage at her home. He also pleaded guilty to damaging a garden shed and plants on 17 August. He was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Magistrates noted his actions had a significant impact on his victim, he was on police bail at the time, has previous offences of harassment and poor compliance with court orders. He was ordered to have treatment for his mental health and made subject to a restraining order not to contact his victim until 30 July 2028. He has to pay a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
JOHN HALE, 38, of Jubilee Close, St Columb was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection order on 29 July not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in Helston.
MICHAEL HATT, 35, of Trevail Way, St Austell was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection order on 31 July not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in St Austell. Magistrates noted there is a history of multiple incidents of violence with a recent hospital visit when hospital staff were so concerned about the risk they notified police.
ANYA CURTIS, 35, of Santos Terrace, Tywardreath Highway admitted breaching a domestic violence protection order on 2 and 5 August by entering Santos Terrace. She was sent to prison for four weeks because it was a second deliberate breach of the order within a week and she has a poor attitude towards court orders. She was fined £120.
MATTHEW BROWN, 50, of Old Canal Close, Marhamchurch was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection order on 4 August not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in Marhamchurch.
KNIFE CRIME
DANIEL MONROSE, 39, of Chapel Field, St Austell pleaded guilty to racially aggravated behaviour at Bodmin on 5 September last year, causing £250 worth of criminal damage to Wheal Northy Surgery in St Austell on 15 April, possessing a kitchen knife with a three-inch blade and a metal spanner at St Austell Bus Station on 1 June and using threatening behaviour and possessing a large kitchen knife with an eight-inch blade at Wheal Northey in St Austell on 19 July. He was given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and has to pay the surgery £250 compensation, was fined £180 for the racially aggravated behaviour and has to pay £85 costs.
DANGEROUS DOG
ROBERT CRABTREE, 69, of Cannis Road, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with owning a Belgian Malinois called Lady which was dangerously out of control at his home and injured a woman on 30 May 2024. His case was listed for 28 August.
THEFT
KIERAN LEVERETT, 42, of Blowing House Close, St Austell pleaded guilty to stealing goods worth £353 from Boots in St Austell on 10 May. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £350.98 compensation and £85 costs.
DRUNK
JOE ORCHARD, 46, of Minorca Lane, Bugle pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on Crinnis Beach, Carlyon Bay on 12 July. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 surcharge and £85 costs.
DRINK/DRUG DRIVE
SHANNON PEPIN, 54, of Sea Views, Atlantic Road, Newquay pleaded guilty to failing to provide police with a specimen of breath for analysis when being investigated for a traffic offence on 2 July. She was banned from driving for 12 months, which will be reduced by three months if she completes a course, fined £438 and ordered to pay a £175 surcharge and £85 costs.
THOMAS HURLEY, 46, of Figgy Road, Quintrell Downs pleaded guilty to driving on Stret Morgan Le Fey in Newquay on 13 January with 32 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood exceeding the limit of ten, 8.5 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two and possessing seven grams of cannabis. He will be sentenced on 17 September.
KALEN HINTON, 24, of St Johns Road, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving on Scotland Road, Newquay whilst unfit through drink. Magistrates gave him a 17-month ban, which will be reduced by 17 weeks if a course is completed, a £200 fine and ordered him to pay a £80 surcharge and £85 costs.
JIMMIE KEARNEY, 20, of Wheal Arthur Road, Carluddon pleaded guilty to driving on Holmbush Road, St Austell on 22 February with 264 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 50. He was banned from driving for 20 months, fined £384 and ordered to pay a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.
MARC JACKSON, 47, of Priory Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to failing to provide police with a specimen of blood for analysis when being investigated for a traffic offence and guilty to driving without a licence or insurance on Beach Road, St Austell on 23 May. He was banned from driving for three years, fined £200 and ordered to pay a £80 surcharge and £85 costs.
GUY WILLIAMS, 50, of Stanley Maggs Way, Liskeard pleaded guilty to driving with 76 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35 at Church Street, Liskeard on 11 July and using a vehicle without an MOT. He was banned from driving for 20 months which will be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes a course, fined £666 and ordered to pay a £266 surcharge and £85 costs.
CASEY MORRIS, 41, of Trevendon, Venterdon, Callington pleaded guilty to driving at Helland on 29 March with 116 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood exceeding the limit of 80. Magistrates gave a 12-month ban, with a three-month reduction if a course is completed, a £414 fine and ordered that a £166 surcharge and £85 costs are paid.
CHRISTOPHER COWL, 61, of High Street, Delabole pleaded guilty to driving between Downhead and Pipers Pool on 15 January with 161 millilitres of alcohol per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 80. He was banned from driving for 18 months, which will be reduced by 18 weeks if he completes a course, fined £312 and ordered to pay a £125 surcharge and £85 costs.
STUART TURNER, 37, of St Olafs Road, Stratton pleaded guilty to driving at Launceston on 10 July with 48 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath and driving on Birchwood Crescent, Bideford on 11 July with 79 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35 and driving without insurance. He was banned from driving for 42 months, which will be reduced by 42 weeks if he completes a course, fined £650 and ordered to pay a £520 surcharge and £85 costs.
HAZARDOUS PROPERTY
HADYN HAYNES, 83, of Trevelgue Road, Porth pleaded not guilty to failing to comply with an operative improvement notice relating to a Category 1 hazard under Section 11 of the Housing Act. A Category 1 hazard is a serious health or safety risk found in a home. He will stand trial on 30 October.
