St Columb Minor travelled to Pensilva and put their promotion drive firmly on course with a thumping win against a depleted Pensilva side, who were missing six first team squad regulars.
The home side were forced to call upon Colin Treeby, Spencer Welch and Tony Rogers, all were playing their second match of the day, as two hours previously the reserve side kicked off their own promotion charge against Lewdown. Reserve striker Quentin Mitchell also took to the field fight the onslaught from the visitors. St Columb stormed into a 3-1 lead, with only Dave Hicks' penalty consolation to show for the home side, however it could have been six as they hit the post, missed an open goal, and had both Welch and Dunbobbin clearing off the line. To make matters worse as on 60 minutes Pensilva lost their keeper Simon Terrell, who was disgracefully dismissed for the use of foul and abusive language towards the referee, after being fouled blatantly. It was the second red card of the keeper for characteristic loss of head. Playing with 10 men, Pensilva rallied, Dave Hicks took over between the sticks, but was unable to prevent two late goals to complete the home sides misery.
