Robbie Petrie grabbed all four goals as Pelynt progressed to the second round of the Division Two cup at the expense of previously unbeaten Southgate Reserves.
The Launceston side were overwhelmed by Pelynt's superior passing and movement especially in a first half which impressed joint manager Harvey Williams so much he was "close to tears." Pelynt should have been out of reach by half time but as it was they were 2-0 up, Petrie's pace twice taking him clear of the visitors defence before he slotted home.
Southgate's anticipated fight back seemed to havebeen snuffed out before it had begun when Petrie crashed home his third on the run, within a minute of the restart, but wait, it wouldn't be Pelyntif they didn't slacken off and the visitors quickly pulled two goals back and suddenly it was a different game.
Pelynt continued to create chances but Trevor Wisker's finishing was sadly lacking. Thankfully everything Petrie touched seemed to fly in and he headed home Matt Johns' cross to make it 4-2.
There was still time for a panic as Andy Giles tackle was adjudged a foul and the impressiver Phil Hearnden, again forced to wear the keeper's jersey was just beaten from the spot.
The whole team contributed to another excellent performance but they will need to produce another top draw display if they are to overcome Premier Division Callington in the Junior Cup, round two, tomorrow (Sat).
