An original painting capturing the spirit and colour of the Black Prince Flowerboat Procession has been donated to the procession itself.

Plymouth artist Liz Jones loved the event on the Rame Peninsula so much that when she experienced it for the first time, she decided to paint it, and entitled her work ‘Launching the Black Prince’.

The acrylic on canvas has been valued at more than £500 and will now be raffled, with the proceeds helping to enhance next year’s procession.

‘Launching the Black Prince’ is currently on display at the Panache Gallery in Kingsand and will also be displayed in Millbrook over the coming months.

The winner of the raffle will be announced during next year’s Black Prince event on May 1, 2017.

Tickets are available from the Cliff Top Cafe in Whitsand Bay; Millbrook News in West Street, Millbrook; the Panache Gallery in Kingsand; and Rame Framing in Antony. Alternatively, contact a member of the Black Prince crew.
