Residents battling to prevent a mobile phone mast being erected behind Millbrook primary school are counting on one last throw of the dice to prevent the scheme going ahead – based on a planning appeal decision.

Despite bulldozers already moving on to the site, at Blindwell Hill, the protesters have faxed Caradon council urging them to ask One 2 One to halt all works.

The planning appeal decision was based on a case involving Leeds city council and Vodafone Ltd. The government inspector ordered Vodafone to take down the mast because he said it breached height restrictions, being over 15 metres tall. Full planning permission is not required for masts less than 15 metres, but it was discovered that the mast at Leeds was on a base and this took it to 16.23 metres.
