The lifeboat crew at St Ives RNLI are having a busy week, responding to their pagers yesterday (Friday, April 29) for the third time this week to make sure a cliff walker was safe and well.

Both St Ives lifeboats were called out just before 10am by the Coastguard who had been asked for assistance by the Police to search for the owner of a rucksack found on a cliff top near Hells Mouth.

Coastguard cliff rescue teams from St Ives and Portreath were tasked to carry out a land search of the area, while the St Ives all-weather lifeboat, Nora Stachura, and the inshore lifeboat, Colin Bramley Parker, were launched to conduct a search of the coastline.

The Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter from Newquay also joined the search.

The search was called off after two hours when the owner of the rucksack was located safely in the area.

This is the third shout in four days for the crew at St Ives. On Tuesday they launched following reports of a personal locator beacon being activated in the area and on Thursday the crew joined volunteers from St Agnes to help a broken down fishing vessel near Portreath.
