A man armed with a knife threatened staff before being chased out of a Post Office and fleeing in a getaway car.

The attempted robbery happened in Kelly Bray yesterday afternoon.

Police say the man went into the Launceston Road Post Office at around 4.40pm.

The man was armed with a knife and threatened staff before being chased out of the premises.

He ran down the road before jumping into the passenger seat of a dark coloured saloon car which drove off down Redmoor Road.

The man was described as being white, wearing dark clothing, a hoody and a scarf which covered his face.

A 52-year-old man and a 43-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and are in custody at Charles Cross Police Station, Plymouth.
