Paramedics treated a householder injured in a blaze in the early hours of this morning.

The casualty was suffering from the effects of inhaling smoke.

Firefighters from Saltash and Camels Head in Plymouth answered a 999 call to St Stephens shortly after 1am.

Crews were faced with a six by five metre semi detached property which was well alight.

They used two main jets and a hosereel jet. Four firefighters wore breathing apparatus at the scene.

The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom area.

After putting out the fire the crews began damping down.
