A Saltash woman’s 100th birthday gifts will help to keep on giving pleasure to the congregation of a parish church.

When Thelma Bishop celebrated her milestone birthday, she requested that friends and residents where she lives, at Abbeyfield’s Cresta House, make donations to St Stephen’s Church in lieu of presents.

The £100 collected will assist in the purchase of new flower stands, said Caroline Gerry, of the Abbeyfield Saltash Society.

The Rev Jo Lobb visited Cresta House together with Jill Young and James Lynes, of the St Stephen’s Church team, to receive the money.
