STUDENTS, families and staff at Torpoint Community College are celebrating the achievements of Year 11 students as GCSE results were released today.

The hard work, determination and resilience shown by students throughout their secondary education has been recognised at the college this morning.

Across the year group, pupils have secured qualifications that will enable them to progress to a wide range of next steps, including sixth form study, college courses, apprenticeships and employment.

The college's motto, ‘Inspiring Optimistic Learners,’ has been evident throughout the year group, with students demonstrating commitment, perseverance and ambition in pursuing their individual goals. Whether achieving the highest grades, securing important passes, or overcoming personal challenges, students have much to be proud of.

Among the highest-achieving students this year was Elyse, who secured an outstanding set of results, achieving grades 7-9 in every subject, including six grade 9s. Other notable successes included Charlie, who achieved seven grades at 7-9, and Finlay, who secured two grade 9s and three grade 8s.

Ella’s hard work was rewarded with one grade 9, one grade 8 and three grade 7s, while Bella and Beau achieved the highest possible grade of Distinction* in Cambridge National Sports Studies.

This year's results also highlights the breadth of talent within the college. Students achieved particularly strong outcomes in the creative and performing arts, with almost a quarter of Drama students achieving grades 7-9.

Strong performances were also seen in Physics and Spanish, with 20 per cent of students in each subject achieving grades 7-9, reflecting students' commitment and enthusiasm across a wide range of academic disciplines.

Sport also proved a significant area of success. In Cambridge National Sports Studies, six students achieved top level distinctions, demonstrating exceptional dedication both in their studies and in their wider sporting commitments.

Headteacher of Torpoint Community College, Jeremy Plumb, said: "Today is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of every member of our Year 11 cohort.

“We are incredibly proud of the hard work, resilience and determination our students have shown throughout their time at Torpoint Community College. Most importantly, these results represent individual stories of commitment and perseverance.
