Football: Torpoint match to raise funds for injured young star

By Cornish Times in Football

Torpoint Athletic will be presented with the East Cornwall Premier League Premier Division championship trophy at The Mill on Saturday after all.

When St Blazey pulled out of the scheduled final league fixture because they were unable to raise a team, it left the league with a dilemma about the presentation.

But Torpoint have quickly organised a friendly between the current ECPL team and a team of past Torpoint ECPL players with a 3pm kick-off.

All proceeds from the game will go to their young player Ashley O’Rourke, who faces a long spell out of the game after suffering a double break of his leg against Saltash United last Friday.

Torpoint will be presented with the Premier Division trophy by league sponsors Mortgage Advice Bureau.

The club are holding their annual awards presentation evening on Saturday night.
